First International Nicosia Women's Film WeekMar 8, 2014
Nicosia, 8 March 2014 – On the occasion of the International Women's Day, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) invites you to the first International Nicosia Women’s Film Week, at the Goethe-Institut in Nicosia from 8 to 15 March 2014.
The week kicks off on Saturday 8 of March 2014, International Women’s Day, at 6pm at the Goethe Institut with an opening ceremony, followed by the film, “Salma” by internationally-acclaimed, multiple-award winning filmmaker Kim Longinotto.
The 8-day event showcases 13 films and stories of women from around the world. The selection was made available thanks to the support of Embassies and Cultural Institutions in Cyprus and compiles interesting reflections on different gender issues, including domestic violence, equal opportunities, gender roles and the women's participation in politics.
Entrance to all film nights and panel discussion is free. The programme of the week can be downloaded here.
More information about the week's activities, panel discussions, etc. will be provided on this page, and on our Facebook Event page as soon as they are available.
All films will be shortly introduced by the representatives of the selecting Embassies and/or Cultural Institutions. All movies will be screened in their original language with English subtitles.
