2015 Women Film Week

Mar 9, 2015

UNDP Women's Film Week 2015
returns this March at the Goethe Institut in Nicosia with a compelling lineup of films covering a variety of gender issues, including equal opportunities, gender roles, and a brand new section dedicated to women filmmakers!

The 2015 Women's Film Week will begin on Monday 9th of March at 6:00 p.m. at the Goethe Institut with an opening ceremony followed at 7:00 p.m. by the Opening Night Film “When we leave” presented by the Goethe Institut in Nicosia.

The Film Week will last 6 days – from 9 to 14 March - and will showcase 11 films and stories of women from around the world. The selection was made thanks to the support of Embassies and Cultural Institutions in Cyprus. The representatives of the selecting Embassies and/or Cultural Institutions will briefly introduce all films.

The full programme of the week can be downloaded here. All movies will be screened in their original language with English subtitles.

In addition to the films, two open discussions are also being organised respectively by UNFICYP "Women Leading Change" (Tuesday 10 March, 7:00 p.m.) and the Embassy of Finland and Estonia in Cyprus "Women Trafficking: the invisible problem" (Wednesday 11 March, 8:30 p.m.). More information on the open discussion will be provided soon.

Entrance to all film nights and panel discussion is free!

The United Nations family in Cyprus, including the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP), the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is pleased to support this week-long initiative as part of collective efforts to foster discussion about the importance of increasing women’s participation and promoting women’s voices.

UNDP wishes to express its deep appreciation to all those who helped to organize the Film Week!
