New cultural heritage sites to benefit from Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage emergency interventions

Apr 15, 2013

The Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage is pleased to announce the start-up of emergency measures in three new cultural heritage sites.

In addition to the Mosque in Denia/Denya –where emergency interventions started earlier in February this year, the new three sites to benefit from this EU funded and UNDP-PFF implemented interventions are: Profitis Elias Church in Philia/Serhatköy, Melandrina Church in Kalograia/Esentepe, and Panagia Church in Trachoni/Demirhan.

Works for all three sites will begin in the following two weeks and will focus on emergency measures.

Additional cultural heritage sites such as the Çerkez Mosque in Phasouri/Çerkez Çiftliği and the Kato Paphos/Asağı Baf Bath will benefit from similar interventions in the months to come.

All the activities are funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP-Partnership for the Future in collaboration with the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage.

The startup of these new activities marks an important moment in the Committee’s continued efforts to protect and preserve the island’s rich cultural heritage.
