Green is beautiful! Kick-off Event in Karpasia/KarpazNov 29, 2013
Next Sunday December 1st 2013 it is all about Environment in Karpasia/Karpaz!
The European Commission, the United Nations Development Programme Partnership for the Future (UNDP-PFF) and the grants winner civil society organisations have the pleasure to invite you to participate to the kick-off event of the EU funded and UNDP-PFF supported call for proposals “Green is beautiful – Small grants for the Karpasia/Karpaz region”.
The event will start at 11:30 am in the fair-ground of Rizokarpaso/Dipkarpaz (next to the football pitch). Join our small “green-community fair” and enjoy live music!
Projects coordinators and representatives from the grants winner Civil Society Organisations will be providing information and answering questions one-on-one about their on-going activities at their stands while local women cooperatives and non-for-profit organisations will be selling their local products. Primary schools children from local schools as well as local stakeholders and beneficiaries will also take part in the event. Some activities will be especially dedicated to children.
The event will be an opportunity to present to the public the new EU funded and UNDP-PFF supported projects, create awareness and increase community participation towards a more sustainable and green development of the region.
The EU funded and UNDP-PFF supported projects presented on this day started between October and November 2013 and will be completed by May 2014. Up to 11 projects will be funded under this call for approximately 170,000 Euro. They will cover the three geographic areas of Galateia/Galatya/Mehmetcik, Aigialousa/Yalusa/Yenierenköy and Rizokarpaso/Dipkarpaz.
Activities will range from environmental educational activities for primary school children, carob cookery workshops, handicrafts workshops, bicycle rental points and new walking paths, as well as different environmental related trainings and workshops.
