2016 Women's Film Week

Feb 26, 2016

UNDP Women’s Film Week is back for a 3rd year to celebrate International Women’s Day!

Running from 7th to 12th March with up to three daily shows at the Goethe-Institut in Nicosia and, for the first time, at Larnaca's House of Arts and Literature and Famagusta's Youth Centre, the 2016 Women’s Film Week will bring to you 14 films and real stories of women from around the world.

The theme chosen for this year’s edition is "She did it! Positive Women’s stories” and aims at giving a positive spin – through cinematography - to public reflections/debates on some of the greatest challenges faced by women today in Cyprus and globally (migration and domestic work, equality and discrimination in the workplace, love and disability, gender stereotypes, women’s leadership and women’s participation in the peace process).

The 2016 Women’s Film Week is organised under the auspices of the Technical Committee on Gender Equality, by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with the Goethe-Institut in Nicosia, the Larnaca Cinema Society, Larnaca Municipality, MAGEM, United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) and the United Nations High Commission for Refugees in Cyprus (UNHCR).

This week-long event was made possible thanks to the support of Embassies and Cultural Institutions in Cyprus who provided us with yet another great selection of films.
