Nicosia - The Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage (TCCH) invites young people aged between 18‐35 to apply by 31 August 2019 to become Heritage Youth Ambassadors. Heritage Youth Ambassadors will be selected from a diverse group of committed and inspiring young Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriots who are leading efforts to promote and preserve the rich and diverse cultural heritage in Cyprus.
As founding values of the EU, Heritage Youth Ambassadors should embrace the values of solidarity, respect for human dignity and human rights, and believe in the promotion of a fair and equal society in which pluralism, non-‐discrimination, tolerance, justice, solidarity and equality prevail. They should strive to enhance solidarity between people, while respecting their cultures and their traditions, and aim to build a community of shared responsibilities and mutual support.
Heritage Youth Ambassadors will act as the “youth voice” of the TCCH and will be mandated by the committee to reach out to and engage with the young people of Cyprus through:

• Promoting cultural heritage sites and monuments to their networks
• Engaging young people in activities and events of the TCCH
• Sharing stories and pictures about cultural heritage on social media
• Act as unofficial guardians of the selected monuments by undertaking regular visits and reporting on their status.

Taking part in the “Heritage Youth Ambassador Programme” will be a significant achievement for any young person. Young people, who are involved, will develop new skills and enhance their CVs, gain knowledge about the preservation of cultural heritage, and gain experience in community engagement activities.

Information sessions will continue in Famagusta and Kyrenia as follows below:

When: Thursday 25 July 2019, 16:00-‐18:30 Where: Kale Pasaji, Famagusta

When: Tuesday 30 July 2019, 17:30-‐19:00 Where: Villaggio Templos, Kyrenia

To apply, candidates should post between one and three pictures, or a 30 second video on Instagram, and explain in the description/comments section why cultural heritage is important to them.
